If you want to change the tesitmony and add your own words, consider these talking points:
1. We're importing 85% of our food and getting 90% of our energy from oil and coal. We're one hurricane away from complete disaster. One of the biggest reasons we're so dependent upon these resources is because of special interest money in politics.
2. Poll after poll is showing citizens want a public funding option for elections. Frustrations with the influence of private money are the highest they've been in recent memory.
3. A 2005 AARP survey found 76% of Hawaii's voting residents support a full public funding option for elections like the pilot program on the Big Island.
